Since I can remember, photography has been close to my heart

As a boy/young man the digital world hasn’t arrived yet or the internet for that matter. I never had the opportunity to buy a quality camera only a simple camera.

I always wanted to be a photographer, but as life went a long, I never had the chance to get involved for real. But photography was and still is in my blood. Of and on I was in touch with photography, but never in the exact way I want. I never dreamt of going to the Olympics as a photographer, maybe as an athlete, but always thought one day life will give me the opening.

I have spent almost 20 years in Brazil (1995-2014), where photography really began to take a hold on me. I bought a Fuji camera with a 50 mm lens and working with professional cycling the logic of my pictures was focused on cycling sports and sports in general.

As life not always go the way we wanted I had to sell my equipment, I have been very ill and the transition period Brazil-Denmark has been more than difficult, so I was back to square one.

But no bad situation last forever and with hard work I have managed to get the equipment I want (or perhaps as a photographer there is always a lens to buy and a gimmick to get). Today I work with The Canon top notch machines and some of the best lenses Canon makes. Yes, I know that equipment is expensive but when you have the machine in hand and look thru the lens, you feel the difference.

Through my year as a photographer and a viewer of photography I can only say it as good as the Brazilian photographer Marianna Moreno said:

“Its not because you have a camera you can call yourself a photographer. You need to learn to see life around you and transform it to a story”.

After a long hard struggle, I have seen progress. Today I have worked with Ironman, Copenhagen City Marathon, Tour de France and many other projects and clients in all areas. But I have a long way to go yet. Although I am lucky to have accreditation for the Olympic Games in 2024 in Paris, so something is right. But still hard work, practice and learn.
